Happy Father’s Day to every dad out there. Most fathers are unaware and humble about the incredible role they play in their child's life. The question is ' Do you value and take care of yourself? Personally, I often have to watch and remind my hubby about his health and wellbeing. Especially during these prolonged covid times it is important to put MEN'S physical and psychological health as a priority. Have an amazing Father’s Day.
Some days writing these posts are more interesting than others, for this one it was incredible the research methodology used to identify some of these traits, for example, a study by UC Berkeley found that drivers of luxury cars were 4 times less likely to stop and allow pedestrians right of way (moral entitlement) and please don't get me started on unethical behaviour even using monopoly money. Lol
Doing this piece also identified my own relationship with money, for those of you who know me; I was the financial controller of a multi-national company that gave up corporate Australia overnight when our pre-schooler child asked me to stay home. But whether it was running a multi-national company or my own small business I always felt a sense of gratitude or freedom when I paid my bills/ taxes etc. To some people that can be considered sad but to me, debt was never my friend.
Personally, I think Money is a tool that can enslave you or empower you. Hope these tips help you towards financial health & well-being.
Wow! Although expected, these COVID lockdowns always seem to catch me by surprise. What is the impact of these lockdowns on physical, psychological and social health such as relationships?
Although I was trying to promote the need for us in lockdown to ensure our health and wellbeing needs are met, I couldn't help include the use of online Iridology readings.
COVID-19 has accelerated our need for personalised health & wellbeing, the use of digital technologies and communications and for us to stay connected. Let’s embrace it!
Be safe and this will pass........
Recently I have seen a spate of professionals either suffering from workplace burnout or on the verge of burning out.
'Wired, tired, anxious but lethargic?
'Restless and exhausted when stressed?
'Tired all day but cannot sleep at night or unrefreshed sleep?
' Overreacting to people, things and situations?
Please hit the 'Pause' button, take time out for self-care, reflection, direction, peace and quiet to find the 'you and then hit the 'Reset' button.

Pre - Post training treating our kids to junk food and drinks.
Use and abuse of alcohol in and around sport.
What messages are we giving them around winning, losing and self care.
Our kids are precious.............
Without being a party pooper here, as a lot of us are enjoying the Olympics. (My hubby is sitting up at ungodly hours watching the Olympics). Just a timely reminder of the dangers of Relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) which is a condition of low energy availability affecting male and female athletes of all levels and ages.
It has wide-ranging adverse effects on all bodily systems and can seriously compromise long term health and performance.
In the clinical presentation of this condition, there rarely is just 1 symptom most of these cases are complex such as compounding effects of fatigue, mood & hormonal disorders, digestive disorders and an inability to function.
Take care and for those of us who are armchair athletes, we have nothing to worry about.........
In the last couple of weeks, I attended the government's compulsory Family Violence training (Multi- Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework - MARAM) focusing on multi-agency collaborative practice in responding to family violence.
It is a complex subject but one of the key messages is to follow the lead of the victim-survivor. They know their circumstances best, especially when they make informed decisions. The best WE can do is provide information, support and resources in a non-judgemental manner.
Be safe and have a great weekend.
' The Hero Child' is a more common manifestation in clinical settings as most are adults who are high functioning, high achievers, with high anxiety and depression, who struggle with the triggers from the wounds of the inner child whom they fail to acknowledge.
Forced to give up their childhood. The HERO child often has to adapt to the chaos and dysfunction in the family by becoming super-competent at everything— often to the point of parenting one or both parents and their siblings.
Behind their facade of competence and strength, you will often find is a lonely frightened child who can find it difficult to maintain close trusting and healthy relationships.
There is help out there to heal the inner HERO child.
Recently during a consultation with a young child, we both decided to do some affirmations but found what we needed was the parent to reinforce the affirmations. So we did a few with child/parent affirmations and found they fit really well not only with the child but also with our 'Healing the lament of the inner child".
Research indicates that a child's experiences and beliefs are stored deep in their subconscious mind and in later years shapes their actions, reactions and choices.
Parents play a vital role in shaping these values and beliefs and defines how a child sees themselves and the world.
Affirmations are a powerful tool. I am happy to share these with anyone wanting a copy, but I have also included a sample that you could make up with your child using your favourite photos.
These are suitable for kids from around 3-10 years old. Let the child read the 1st statement and the parent reads the 2nd. Have fun.
Another lockdown. For those who are getting the covid vaccine. Here are some Natural Home remedies you can use to reduce any common side effects. You don't need any fancy stuff, keep it simple.
Most of the symptoms are short lived and will pass. If in doubt or your symptoms worsen or persist, please seek medical advice. They are there to help you.
Be safe, Rest, Relax and Rejuvenate.
