I do use the full range of Australian Bush flowers in my clinic and have listed some of my favourite or most used ones.
During my studies, I found it extremely hard to wrap my head around any energetic therapies, however, research papers on Water and Consciousness by Dr Masaru Emoto which I find absolutely fascinating (must-see video) and Memory of Water research by Professor Jacques Benveniste have me rethinking that there must be something out there that science does not have the capacity to reveal fully yet. I do use the full range of Australian Bush flowers in my clinic and have listed some of my favourite or most used ones. Many of us are sick and tired of Covid and all that it represents. But for some, we are affected by the ongoing consequences of new and emerging symptoms, forced changes to our lifestyles and never known fears. One of these is a group of allergy and reactivity symptoms called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). So what is it......? I clearly remember the exact moment I realised I had knees. Celebrating turning 50 in the beautiful Maldives with family and I had joined in a yoga session on the beach and ARRRGH trying to sit cross-legged ooops!. Those nasty allergies to exercising finally caught up. No need to say since then I am acutely reminded of my musculoskeletal system. Here are some simple easy preventative tips. Gut Microbiomes & Metabolites. Wow, so good to catch up with a colleague yesterday for a long slow lunch, discussing the latest research on how our gut flora affects mental health. We all know that there is a Gut-Brain connection but the latest research is focused on the influence of these pesky little creatures in our gut (gut flora - billions of them either helping or wrecking our health). This was a challenging and emotional piece of work to do. We all grieve in different ways for different things and people. There is no right or wrong way nor is there a manual on how to grieve. I tell my patients to " just walk with grief at your pace". 29/06/2023. This morning I got the sad news that one of my dearest friend/patient had passed. I grieved only for a few minutes but then I celebrated the life she lived and the many lives she touched with her love and humour. She and her family were a welcoming beacon to me and our family over 20 years ago when we arrived in Ballarat, a city where we did not know a single person. My kids loved it when she visited as I always came home from clinic with a large bag of Mars chocolates. Over the recent months, I had been visiting her and on my last visit a few weeks ago we discussed the history of hotels and pubs in Ballarat since 1853. Love her! An angel has left us. May her soul rest in peace. I love clinical Iridology, especially now when doing online consultations, I can share my screen on Zoom with patients' iris images and the iris chart. It is a great non-invasive tool I use during the initial consultation to provide insight to my patients about their state of health and as a tool for my treatment plans. Want to know more about iridology? Long Covid Unfortunately, we are seeing more and more patients with Long Covid. The good news is the symptoms generally are short-lived. However, if you are immune-compromised or have other conditions then please be proactive in your health care needs. Here is some basic information on Long Covid. Be safe and remember "Prevention is better than cure". Anzac Day 2022 Thanks to Netflix and movies, which give us a close insight into the real horrors of war and the brave men and women who fought gallantly for our freedom. Not sure what I thought war was but seeing war movies now I am horrified but so grateful to the brave soldiers. I salute you! " We will always remember them" As a family, we have transcended Easter from our dining table full of food colouring and paintbrushes to our Kitchen table with Easter egg moulds, saucepans of bubbling chocolate, to night-time hiding Easter eggs only to chase our pet dog, Sally, the next day around the yard as she was quick during the Easter egg hunt. Eventually giving up idealism for the convenience of store-bought eggs. Now we are happy to settle around a family feast with a table load of drinks, food and sweets...... Happy Safe Easter to one and all. Love and hugs Jacqui Candida or thrush. Candida or thrush is a common nuisance condition where the symptoms can be quite distressing It can mask other conditions but one of the key symptoms is white lesions that look like cottage cheese in the mouth, digestive discomfort, foggy brain, urinary tract infections and the list goes on..... Let's talk Candida or thrush. Loved working on this post. As a Naturopath & Psychotherapist sometimes we get stuck, that a healthy lifestyle is healthy eating, exercise and the odd meditation. Drilling deeper into what is a truly healthy life? It would have to be living an empowered life..... So what is " Living an Empowered Life"? Not sure to be sad or angry, but there is a level of frustration with the spate of family violence incidents in the news. Family violence is complex. However, beyond the "he said, she said, I did, you did" often a picture emerges of a CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER. Please don't ignore this danger, there is plenty of information, support, and help out there. Get information, get help, get a safety plan and get out of there if you are in danger. Have an awesome week. For those of us who have Endometriosis, it is a long, hard, lonely and frustrating journey. It is a chronic condition. Endo is individual and every person experiences it differently. A lot of people dismiss it as a single issue, but it often affects multiple systems. There are things you can do to ease or manage symptoms and there is help out there. Have an awesome week. Uncertainty! Gees have we had a run of that in the last couple of years. Covid, relationships, work, floods, fire, now a war! My heart goes out to all of us who are experiencing uncertain times. The stress can be horrendous, however, for those of us who can; once we make sense of the uncertainty and decide the course of action we can see the rainbow and life may never be the same but we are more empowered for the choices we make. Lots of love and hugs Although Autoimmune diseases have been around for a long time, for some reason it has become a buzzword now with an increase in cases. Autoimmune is a chronic disease. Unfortunately, it can mimic other conditions so keep track of symptoms and address them in a timely manner. Simple things we can do is Reduce or eliminate gluten Reduce or eliminate dairy Reduce stress and increase self-care to include regular exercise Healthy eating and detox toxins. In clinic, the 3 major pain points I see in my patients, are RELATIONSHIPS, FINANCES and of course, HEALTH & WELLBEING. After the last 2 years, I think we have become reflective and can drill down deep to take on the challenges of the future with a clear vision and set goals. For those of you who are questioning my advice on Finance, a million years ago I was the financial controller (glorified bean counter) of a multi-national company in corporate Australia. Please continue to keep safe and hope you are having an awesome break resting, relaxing and rejuvenating! Love and hugs. Jacqui Now that I am on the wrong side of 50, I can tell how foods affect me and removing or reducing certain foods has definitely helped. Working as a Naturopath and nutritionist, we have so many diets that if you sneeze we have a diet for you. However, the Anti-inflammatory diet is one of the diets that I hand out most, to my clients in the clinic because it can be applied across so many health problems. My clients like it because it is something that people can refer to when shopping, has cooking tips and hints. It is great using food as your medicine and feeling so much less in pain and suffering! If you are my client please text or email me for a copy and if you are not a client then please sign up and I will email you a copy. Have an awesome week. Signup here Children - The gift that keeps on giving. LOL. Last year our daughter and son in law, gave me a flow hive for Xmas. This was after I promised Santa I would behave next year. I was beside myself with joy and even did the Happy Dance. Well, it's been a year and I am still waiting, waiting, waiting for the bees to be installed in the hive. Besides the benefits of honey, there is a whole lot of regulations, rules and conditions that need to be followed, including years before the honey starts to flow... In the meantime, let us get up to date with the medical benefits of raw honey ....... This is such a funny tip lol " Never under any circumstances take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night" Jokes aside, sleeping disorders are not funny. Here is how to recognise the symptoms and get the treatment you need, for some of us, it can be as simple as implementing some strategies or taking steps towards routine but for others, we might need a stronger solution in addressing the causes of sleep disorders. Wishing you all a good restful peaceful sleep...... After identifying the voice of our harsh Inner Critic, Self-compassion is the answer to change MINDSET. Love the soothing tone used here...... I got the giggles when I read one of the tips for Self-compassion is "It's NOT ALL ABOUT YOU" Lol. Reading more, I discovered this means in a positive way not to isolate yourself; but to find common ground that others do experience these same experiences. The best Medicine is SELF-COMPASSION. Looking at my herb garden at its peak, I thought I would post some recipes, tips and photos before the garden goes wild....... I do not profess to be a gardener but I love gardens and I love harvesting from my herb/vegetable garden. There is no dish cooked in my household without something from our garden. PS: Please Don't miss hubby's new toy, the windmill in our garden. Love em! The Inner CRITIC !!!! Eureka! wow, I recently recognised my Inner critic voice. It was empowering to reflect on its impact over time. A message to parents, you don't need to be perfect just be good enough. Did you know that the Inner critic develops in children at a very young age when the neural pathways in the brain are being formed? It can be best described as the blueprint of how your child develops in later years. Let's all break the cycle of the inner critic in our lives and that of our children by identifying the voice and the damage it can do overtime. In April 2021 I had to go into Ballarat city to meet someone, as I waited I decided to put the fireplace (electric log fire) on, snuggle up on my favourite chair and read Stephanie Dowrick's book " Forgiveness & other acts of love". I love her style of writing and her message of paying attention to the intention with the central theme of Self-care. So thought I would share and post self-care tips. Have an awesome weekend. |
