Susan Boyle

15/7/2016

Why was the world fascinated by Susan Boyle. I remember the first time I watched this clip, I found myself standing up in my lounge room to applaud her with tears pouring down my face.
On reflection Susan Boyle embodied all of us who fear to let our light shine or embrace our full potential.

Susan was willing to stand up, vulnerable and open to our sneers, judgements and our obsessional expectation of talent being dressed up as young, gorgeous and talented.

Susan stood up authentic (from the moment I saw her eating her sandwich prior to the audition I was mesmerised by her) to when she blew all our preconceptions away by being true to herself but above all letting her light shine brightly.

Most people either love this book or hate this book. I love the book, because of her honesty and self-deprecating style with which Elizabeth shared her journey.
journey into self discovery
Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
Some saw her as being indulgent, I saw her as being a woman of courage. She used her talent and skills to facilitate her choices. What was impressive about the book was that she was able to connected with herself, learnt the art of self care and took small steps to nurturing herself back to wholeness. Her ability to balance body, mind and spirit whilst staying grounded is to be celebrated. I will leave you with one of her quotes from the book " “I'm choosing happiness over suffering, I know I am. I'm making space for the unknown future to fill up my life with yet-to-come surprises.”

This was my first so called 'self help' book highly recommended by a classmate of mine at Uni, as being the single most inspirational book.
Finding your passion
Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Well I did not get what the Alchemist was about initially, however, I must admit that it is the only book I have read over 10 times and each time I did learn something. It is written in a simple manner about a Shepard boy's journey to find his treasure. However, it has a a powerful story of finding your passion, following your passion and living your passion with love. The theme is that the treasure rests within us and we all are Alchemist and have the ability to change our lives. I will again leave you with a quote from the Alchemist "making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him into places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision." Love & light, hope you all find your passion in life which will help you find your purpose in life.
