Our neighbour at 90 boarded a plane and went to Europe to celebrate her birthday. Listening to my mother-in-law's activities was impressive, from her home and garden projects to teaching catechism to organising Valentine's Day parties, including finding time to dine and visit casinos.
Both women despite their illnesses embrace life with both hands.
In the clinic, the majority of my patients have chronic diseases from mental health, gut problems, heart disease, degenerative illnesses and reproductive issues. I find that the ones that have resilience and are proactive do much better in disease management and their quality of life.
